- Latest Travel Restrictions for US Citizens -

Last update: 1/22/2021

Americans can travel to 92 countries right now. However, travel restrictions for US citizens depend on the destination.

As of today, American tourists can travel to 8 countries without COVID-19 restrictions, while 61 countries require just a negative pre-trip PCR test from US travelers. Moreover, Americans are subject to mandatory quarantine for 23 other international destinations.

Although, in this guide, you will learn where Americans can travel now, bear in mind that the US government advises against traveling unless it is strictly necessary.

In addition to the American travel restrictions that you will find in this guide, which we update daily, I recommend checking the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention website if you want to know the safest countries for American travelers.

We’ve sorted the countries Americans can travel to by entry requirements.

If you’re wondering where to get a quick PCR test for travel in the United States, we have written a specific guide on that.

I’d like to point out that it’s essential to have travel insurance that covers COVID-19, whether or not it’s an entry requirement for your destination (although many countries already include it in their entry requirements).

We have written specific guides for all the places Americans can travel to, where you can find out the current situation in the country, if there is a lockdown or curfew mandates in place, and if hotels, restaurants, and attractions are open to tourism.
