Where Can COVID-19 Vaccinated Americans Travel Right Now

- Latest Travel Restrictions for vaccinated US Citizens -

Last update: 03/13/2024

Now that the United States’ COVID-19 vaccination program has been well under way for some time, the list of countries open to vaccinated American travelers is getting longer and longer.

Currently, vaccinated Americans can travel to 108 countries around the world. Some countries still require even vaccinated American travelers to present a PCR test and/or quarantine, but there are 24 countries that are open to COVID-19 vaccinated Americans without restrictions. Vaccinated US citizens can travel to 86 countries without having to quarantine.

Keep in mind that the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommend that fully vaccinated Americans still refrain from nonessential international travel. Before your trip, I recommend checking the CDC website for information on traveling safely and buying COVID travel insurance just in case.

Additionally, if you do end up traveling, remember to bring proof of full vaccination with you (your vaccination card). You are considered fully vaccinated when two weeks have elapsed since your last dose.

Map of countries open to vaccinated travelers

Vaccinated Americans can currently travel to more than 100 countries around the world. Below is a map of all the countries that vaccinated American tourists can currently visit.

We’ve sorted the countries Americans can travel to by entry requirements.

Where to get vaccinated for travel

If you haven’t gotten vaccinated for COVID-19 yet but you want to be able to travel with the COVID vaccine, there’s no need to worry. You can easily get vaccinated – just check vaccines.gov or the CDC website to find vaccination locations near you.

All Americans age 12 and up are eligible to get vaccinated. If you don’t have the time to make an appointment, walk-ins are also available.

Remember to bring your ID and health insurance card, if you have one, with you when you get vaccinated. After you receive your jab, you’ll be given a card that shows where and when you got the first and second dose, the vaccine manufacturer, and the lot. I highly recommend making copies of this vaccination card and keeping them in a safe place.

Most importantly, remember to bring your vaccination card with you when you travel so that you can prove that you have been fully vaccinated. You are fully vaccinated when at least two weeks have elapsed since you received your last dose.
