Durante esta aventura fotográfica de 13 días en la Patagonia, visitaremos los lugares más fotogénicos alrededor del pintoresco pueblo de El Chaltén, en Argentina; así como las ubicaciones más emblemáticas del Parque Nacional Torres del Paine, en Chile; y el famoso Glaciar Perito Moreno.
Este tour fotográfico por la Patagonia se centra principalmente en disfrutar y capturar los mejores momentos de luz que ofrece la cordillera de los Andes del Sur, por lo que se incluyen desde amaneceres sobre la base del Monte Fitz Roy hasta sesiones de fotografía inolvidables en las Torres y Cuernos del Paine. Nos alojaremos en algunos de los mejores hoteles de la zona, pero también acamparemos y haremos caminatas para llegar a algunos de los lugares más fotografiables de la Patagonia.
Te ayudaremos personalmente a capturar las mejores imágenes durante nuestro taller de fotografía en la Patagonia y te mostraremos las mejores técnicas para fotografiar cualquier sujeto en diferentes condiciones de luz, es decir, durante el amanecer, atardecer, mediodía, crepúsculo, noche, etc.

¿Es este tour fotográfico por la Patagonia para mí?
Antes de seguir leyendo, es importante que tengas en cuenta que para hacer este tour fotográfico por la Patagonia necesitarás un buen nivel de condición física. Durante la primera parte del viaje, en Argentina, caminaremos una media de 5-6,5 kilómetros por día con un desnivel medio de 460 metros. Además, dormiremos en carpas durante los tres días que pasemos de campamento.
Durante los días en los que acampemos, dispondremos de todo el equipo necesario, además, un grupo de porteadores y asistentes locales se encargarán de todo para que tú puedas preocuparte únicamente de tu equipo fotográfico, de hacer fotografías y disfrutar de las vistas. Mientras estemos en Chile, en cambio, no caminaremos tanto, pero también habrá algunas caminatas cortas.
En definitiva, visitaremos y fotografiaremos muchos lugares a los que solo se puede llegar caminando por senderos irregulares, de ahí que sea indispensable estar en buena forma física para disfrutar de la experiencia.
Itinerario del tour fotográfico por El Chaltén y las Torres del Paine 2025
El itinerario de nuestro tour fotográfico por la Patagonia es flexible. Aquí el clima es muy cambiante y podemos experimentar las cuatro estaciones en un mismo día. Sin embargo, el clima también es una de mejores cosas que tiene la Patagonia, ya que crea las condiciones más espectaculares que jamás verás en plena naturaleza.
Como conocemos muy bien la zona, nuestro objetivo será fotografiar los paisajes patagónicos en las mejores condiciones posibles, siempre teniendo en cuenta el pronóstico del tiempo.
Intentaremos aprovechar al máximo la luz, especialmente durante el amanecer, que es cuando la luz crea un auténtico festival visual tiñendo las cumbres de rojo y naranja.
Día 1: Tour fotográfico por la Patagonia, Argentina
Nuestro tour fotográfico por la Patagonia empieza en El Calafate, Argentina, donde nos reuniremos con el resto del grupo.
Durante este primer día, daremos el discurso de bienvenida y la sesión informativa. También haremos una revisión del equipo para asegurarnos de que estamos familiarizados con nuestras cámaras y tenemos la configuración correcta. Después tendrás tiempo para descansar del viaje, antes de disfrutar de nuestra primera cena grupal.
¡Es importante estar bien descansado porque los días siguientes estarán llenos de actividades!
Día 2: Tour fotográfico por la Patagonia
Durante el segundo día de nuestro tour fotográfico por la Patagonia, después de desayunar, nos despediremos de El Calafate y nos dirigiremos a nuestro primer lugar fotográfico, el glaciar Perito Moreno.
Esta espectacular masa de hielo se extiende a lo largo de 319 kilómetros cuadrados y es uno de los pocos glaciares del mundo en un estado casi estable, sin grandes cambios de tamaño durante los últimos siglos.
Este enorme glaciar se eleva sobre las aguas turquesas de una enorme laguna, dentro del Parque Nacional Los Glaciares, declarado Patrimonio de la Humanidad por la UNESCO, y es uno de los glaciares más impresionantes del mundo. Pasaremos la mañana fotografiando este gigantesco campo de hielo afilado bajo los colores del otoño desde diferentes puntos de vista hasta la luz del atardecer.
Tras nuestra excursión fotográfica al Perito Moreno, nos dirigiremos a El Chaltén para empezar la siguiente parte de nuestro viaje.
Desde Perito Moreno, conduciremos unas 4,5 horas hasta el famoso pueblo de El Chaltén. Apenas una hora antes de llegar a El Chaltén podremos avistar a lo lejos los icónicos picos del Fitz Roy y el Cerro Torre, dos cumbres que serán nuestros principales fondos fotográficos durante los próximos cinco días.
Día 3: Tour fotográfico por la Patagonia con acampada
En el tercer día de nuestro tour fotográfico por la Patagonia, si los picos son visibles, nos levantaremos temprano para capturar el amanecer desde un lugar cercano al pueblo.
Después de desayunar en el hotel, dejaremos nuestros ordenadores portátiles, dispositivos electrónicos y otras prendas en el hotel antes de reunirnos con los porteadores, guías de montaña locales y asistentes para empezar nuestra aventura fotográfica en el campamento de la Patagonia.
Haremos una caminata de unos 4 kilómetros, aproximadamente 3 horas, con un desnivel de 400 metros hasta nuestro primer campamento, que estará al lado de la hermosa Laguna Capri y tiene unas vistas impresionantes del Monte Fitz Roy.
El equipo local instalará nuestro campamento y, después de almorzar, exploraremos el área equipados con nuestras cámaras y esperaremos a que llegue la luz del atardecer junto a una cascada secreta cercana a nuestro campamento. El follaje en esta área suele estar en su máximo esplendor durante esta época del año. Después del atardecer, volveremos a pie al campamento para cenar y descansar un poco.
Si las condiciones lo permiten, podemos realizar una corta sesión de fotografía nocturna en el Lago Capri incluyendo las constelaciones del hemisferio sur y las estrellas sobre Fitz Roy.
Día 4: Tour fotográfico por la Patagonia con acampada
Durante el cuarto día de nuestro tour fotográfico de otoño por la Patagonia, empezaremos el día capturando el amanecer en otra cascada escondida cerca del campamento. Después del desayuno, nuestros porteadores recogerán todo el campamento e iremos caminando hasta nuestra próxima ubicación, cerca de la base del Fitz Roy. Esta será una caminata más corta, de unos 4 kilómetros, aproximadamente 2 horas, por terreno mayormente plano. El área donde montaremos el campamento es privada, reservada solo para visitas guiadas.
Una vez lleguemos a nuestro campamento, el equipo instalará las carpas para dormir, así como una más grande que será comunitaria y será la que utilicemos para reunirnos y almorzar.
Después del almuerzo, tendrás la opción de caminar hasta la Laguna de los Tres, que es uno de los puntos de referencia más bonitos del viaje.
Desde el campamento tardaremos alrededor de 2 horas en llegar, pero ten en cuenta que son unos 2,5 kilómetros de camino cuesta arriba, con un desnivel de unos 400 metros. Este es el sendero más empinado y complicado del viaje, pero el esfuerzo compensa, ya que al final tendrás unas vistas inigualables del lago y las montañas patagónicas, justo en la base del Fitz Roy. ¡Este es uno de esos lugares que no te puedes perder si visitas la Patagonia Argentina!
La otra opción es quedarte en el campamento y explorar la zona de los alrededores, que ofrece un sinfín de escenas preciosas, como estanques reflectantes, árboles rojos “bonsái” (ñires y lengas) y lagos, con el impresionante Monte Fitz Roy de fondo. Nos quedaremos hasta que desaparezca la luz del atardecer y volveremos al campamento para disfrutar de una cena caliente.
Día 5: Tour fotográfico por la Patagonia con acampada
A la mañana siguiente de nuestra aventura fotográfica acampando en la Patagonia, nos levantaremos temprano para empezar a caminar hacia una nueva ubicación para ver el amanecer. Se trata de uno de los puntos de referencia argentinos más bonitos y desconocidos que existen.
Tardaremos alrededor de 1 hora en llegar a la base del Monte Polo desde el campamento. El sendero es mayormente plano, con algunas secciones fangosas y pantanosas. Desde aquí podremos ver el Fitz Roy mientras estamos rodeados de algunos majestuosos troncos de árboles muertos que nos ayudarán a crear nuestras composiciones. Si prefieres quedarte en el campamento, podrás capturar la hermosa luz de la mañana sobre el Fitz Roy reflejándose en algunas lagunas cercanas.
Tras la sesión mañanera, volveremos al campamento a desayunar. Después, nuestros porteadores llevarán a todo el equipo de acampada al pueblo y empezaremos una caminata de unos 9 kilómetros para volver a El Chaltén, que serán unas 4 horas en plano más unos 500 metros cuesta abajo.
Ya en El Chaltén, nos dirigiremos a nuestro hotel, donde tendremos un merecido descanso antes de iniciar la próxima caminata.
Día 6: Tour fotográfico por la Patagonia Argentina
En el sexto día de este taller de fotografía por la Patagonia, después de nuestra sesión matinal, nos reuniremos nuevamente con los porteadores y guías para empezar con nuestra última caminata, esta vez hacia el área del Cerro Torre. Esta caminata de 9 kilómetros y un desnivel de 500 metros nos ocupará unas 4 horas y, desde el mismo sendero, obtendremos unas vistas impresionantes.
Una vez lleguemos a nuestro campamento privado y el equipo instale las carpas, caminaremos unos 25 minutos para llegar a la Laguna Torre, que es un lago glaciar prístino ubicado justo debajo del Cerro Torre y donde se pueden ver trozos de hielo flotando. Si el tiempo lo permite, también haremos una caminata opcional a través de la morrena, que ofrece unas vistas espectaculares del glaciar y las montañas.
Aquí tendremos muchos elementos que fotografiar, como ríos, árboles, rocas y hielo. Exploraremos el área alrededor del atardecer, antes de regresar al campamento para una cena caliente y un poco de descanso.
Día 7: Tour fotográfico por la Patagonia con acampada
Al día siguiente de este tour fotográfico guiado por la Patagonia, volveremos a la Laguna Torre para fotografiar el amanecer. El amanecer en este lugar es impresionante, sobre todo ver la cima del Cerro Torre iluminándose mientras sale el sol, que es uno de los momentos más destacables del viaje.
Después, los porteadores recogerán todo el equipo del campamento y empezaremos la caminata de vuelta a El Chaltén, siguiendo el mismo camino del día anterior.
En el pueblo tendremos tiempo para descansar un poco en el hotel y, en función del clima, visitaremos una cascada cercana o haremos a una clase de edición.
Días 8-12: Tour fotográfico por la Patagonia chilena
En el octavo día de nuestro tour fotográfico por la Patagonia, continuaremos nuestro viaje y nos dirigiremos hacia el espectacular Parque Nacional Torres del Paine en Chile. Será un largo viaje que incluye un cruce de frontera, pero haremos paradas a lo largo del camino para ver la fauna, especialmente guanacos y ñandúes.
Según nos acerquemos a nuestro destino final, el paisaje se irá volviendo más impresionante. Nos alojaremos en uno de los mejores hoteles de Torres del Paine, con unas vistas impresionantes de los picos verticales, los cuales fotografiaremos en los próximos días. ¡Incluso podremos tomar fotografías increíbles desde la puerta del hotel!
Unos minutos antes de llegar al hotel, nos detendremos en el Mirador del Río Serrano para tomar las primeras imágenes de las impresionantes montañas de esta zona.
Durante los próximos 5 días, tendremos la flexibilidad de hacer fotografías en diferentes lugares del Parque Nacional Torres del Paine durante las mejores condiciones de luz según el pronóstico del tiempo, el cual consultaremos el día anterior. Iremos hasta nuestros lugares fotográficos preferidos a pie, si son caminatas cortas; o en coche.
Hay un sinfín de posibilidades para tomar fotografías aquí, como los hermosos reflejos de Los Cuernos, la Laguna Amarga, el Glaciar Grey, el Bosque Muerto, lagos color turquesa, cascadas, muchas vistas panorámicas, follaje otoñal muy colorido y paisajes marinos.
Además, durante esta semana, intentaremos capturar algunas imágenes de la hora azul y de noche si las condiciones lo permiten. Siempre estaremos atentos a las condiciones meteorológicas para cualquier posible sesión de fotografía nocturna.
También pasaremos uno de los días haciendo un tour fotográfico de pumas en la Patagonia. Los pumas son animales esquivos y no está garantizado que los veamos, pero con la ayuda de nuestro guía especializado en esta especie animal, que conoce su hábitat y entiende su comportamiento, tendremos altas probabilidades de verlos. Esta zona de la Patagonia es el mejor lugar del mundo para observar a este hermoso felino. Además, seguramente veamos otros animales, como guanacos, cóndores, ñandúes, armadillos, zorros y muchas especies de aves.
En nuestro día 12 del viaje, después de nuestro último amanecer, volveremos a El Calafate, en Argentina, donde pasaremos nuestra última noche.
Día 13: Tour fotográfico por la Patagonia
Después de desayunar, recogeremos el equipaje e iremos hasta el Aeropuerto de El Calafate, donde finalizaremos esta aventura fotográfica por la Patagonia. Haremos un traslado por la mañana y otro por la tarde, pero también puedes contratar un taxi privado hasta el aeropuerto si tu vuelo sale antes o después.

David Aguilar will be your photo tour leader throughout this Patagonia photo tour, and he will make sure that you are in the right place at the right time to get the best photography results from this tour. He will help you with your photography, technique, and composition in all your landscape and night images.
David is a real expert on Patagonia after taking many trips throughout the region and running photo tours there over the last few years. He’s very knowledgeable about the most photogenic locations, the weather patterns, and the best techniques to capture breathtaking landscape images. He has also hiked all around the main landmarks of Patagonia and has discovered many rarely known photo locations that he’ll show you on this trip.
David’s main passion is traveling and helping others with their craft. He’s traveled extensively, not only in Patagonia and South America, but also in Nordic countries like Iceland and Norway and across vast areas in the European Alps.
He’s also a skilled post-processing editor and has helped countless photographers over the last few years with his online landscape editing courses.
Francesco Dall’Olmo will be the co-leader of this Patagonia photo adventure.
He is based in Northern Italy and has developed all his landscape photography in his beautiful backyard: The Italian Dolomites. Apart from shooting extensively there, Francesco has traveled and photographed all over Europe in Norway, the Faroe Islands, Spain, and in South America across Patagonia, Atacama, etc.
Francesco leads tours for Capture the Atlas not only in Patagonia but also in other destinations such as Atacama, Iceland, La Palma, the Dolomites, the Alps, etc.

What to bring on this Patagonia Photo Tour
We will send you a complete list of everything we recommend bringing on this tour before the trip. Below is a summary of things you might need:
Photography Gear
- DSLR/mirrorless camera and a sturdy tripod.
- A wide-angle lens, such as a 14-24 mm lens.
- A medium zoom lens, such as a 24-70 mm lens.
- A telephoto lens, like a 100-400 mm lens.
- A camera bag to transport all your photography equipment and some other items.
- A 6-stop ND filter to shoot waterfalls and rivers.
- A CPL (circular polarizer filter).
- A headlamp for the night shoots and camping.
Clothing and Hiking Gear
The average temperature in Patagonia in April is between 50ºF to 23°F (10° C to -5ºC), and it’s especially cold in the mornings. You should come prepared for all kinds of weather and bring warm clothing. Rain and strong winds are very common in Patagonia. Some of the things that we recommend bringing on this fall Patagonia photo tour are:
- A system of top layers to wear (base layer, fleece, windproof layer, shell).
- A system of bottom layers to wear (hiking pants, fleece pants for cold nights, overpants for rain).
- A good pair of breathable boots to keep your feet warm and protect your ankles while hiking.
- Warm and breathable socks.
- A wool hat, neck gaiter, and gloves.
- Light water bottle.
- A small, light towel.
- A sleeping bag liner
- an inflatable air mattress.
Some optional items that are highly recommended are:
- Hiking poles.
- A cap or sun hat.
- Light sneakers or sandals so you can change your shoes after the trek.
- Sunglasses.
- Lip balm.
- An external power bank.

Money
The currency in Argentina is the Argentine peso (ARS), and in Chile, it’s the Chilean peso (CLP). We highly recommend getting Chilean pesos in your home country. Credit and debit cards are accepted in most places in Patagonia, but there are still many businesses that only take cash.
For Argentina, most business take credit cards. We still recommend having a small amount like $100-200 in cash. Local banks in foreign countries don’t usually offer ARS, so we recommend exchaning this amount once you are in El Calafate (our hotel offers ARS in exchange of USD and EUR).
Documentation
People from most countries, including the Americas, Europe, Eastern Asia, Israel, Australia, and New Zealand, don’t need a tourist visa to visit Argentina and Chile for trips that are shorter than 90 days.

Other important information
Accommodation
The accommodation on this Patagonia Photo Tour is double occupancy in shared bedrooms with two individual beds and a private bathroom. We also offer single occupancy rooms in all hotels on the trip for an extra $1,200. If you are interested in this, please let us know on the signup form below, since the single occupancy rooms are subject to availability.
In Argentina, we are staying in top-rated hotels close to the best locations, where you can see marvelous views of the Patagonian Mountains.
- In El Calafate we’ll stay in Hotel Kau Kaleshen, at a one-minute walk to the main street, where you can find shops and restaurants.
- On the nights in El Chalten, we’ll stay in Chalten Suites Hotel, the best hotel in town, where we’ll be able to rest after our hikes and camping nights.
- Finally, in Torres del Paine we’ll stay at Morrena Lodge; a beautiful rustic hotel, embedded in nature, right on the border of the national park.
On camping nights, you will sleep in a private, individual tent. Also, during these nights, you can leave the luggage you don’t need, like electronics and extra clothing, in a secure room at our hotel in El Chaltén.
Hiking
Most of the trails are moderate in difficulty, but tour participants should have a very good level of fitness.
In El Chaltén, we will be taking long hikes of approximately 3 to 5 miles (5 to 8 kilometers) with 1,640 feet (500 meters) of elevation gain to reach our campsites. The hiking will be done at elevations between 1,300 and 2,500 ft, so there is no risk of altitude sickness in Patagonia. After this, we’ll be exploring and scouting the area, which can add a few more miles. We’ll spend a total of 3 nights camping during the trip.
During these treks, you just have to carry your camera gear, tripod, and personal items like water, toiletries, a toothbrush, and some extra clothes. Our local team will provide and transport all the camping gear (tents, sleeping bags and mats), set up the campsites, and cook all our food so we can focus on scouting and shooting.
There’s also an optional porter service for your camera/personal gear that you can get for an extra fee of around $100 USD per day.
In Torres del Paine, we will take shorter hikes. The longest hike we will do in Torres del Paine will be to Mirador los Cuernos, which takes around 1 hour each way in mostly flat terrain.

All the local guides in both the Argentine and Chilean parts of this Patagonia photo tour are included.
We have also included the entrance fees for Perito Moreno and Torres del Paine National Park.
What expenses should you consider for this Patagonia tour?
Flights
You should book your flight to El Calafate International Airport (FTE).
Airline ticket prices will depend on the airport you are flying from, but round-trip flights from the USA cost around $1,400 – $1,800, and ones from Europe cost $1,100 – $1,300.
Meals
Meals are not included, except for breakfast at the hotels and all the meals on camping days.
Most days, we will have breakfast at our accommodation and a nice dinner in a local restaurant. In Torres del Paine, we will have dinner in the hotel’s restaurant, and, during the day, we’ll order box lunches.
We recommend preparing to spend about $40-$70 USD on food per day.
Transportation
All transportation and fuel are included during the tour. We’ll be traveling in a private 29-seat bus for the duration of the trip. This will give us ample room to be comfortable during drives and more than enough space for luggage and camera gear. Everybody will have a window seat and an extra seat to keep their camera gear handy.
The bus also has a few amenities, such as USB chargers and a small fridge if you want to store some food.
What makes this Patagonia Photo Tour unique?
Our workshops are completely centered on photography: finding the best lighting conditions during the trip and creating an intensive experience that is conducive to learning and taking the best images.
Our workshops are limited to small groups with a ratio of no more than six students per instructor. This is also an important factor for providing the attentive instruction you need during the tour.
During this workshop, we will photograph the famous locations in this destination as well as some hidden gems that we have discovered while exploring in the past that are rarely visited or photographed.
We will discuss your goals before the tour so we can create a dedicated instruction plan for you. It doesn’t matter what your age is or your skills are; we will design your plan and provide you with materials before, during, and after the workshop so the learning process is not limited to just the tour.

Frequent asked questions about our Patagonia photo tour
What level of photography knowledge should I have to attend this photo tour to Patagonia?
Whether you are experienced or just starting out in photography, you are welcome to join us, and I am convinced that you will progress very fast. Together, we will get you back home with a greater and deeper knowledge of many photography topics.
Once you sign up for the workshop, we will discuss your skills and goals for this tour, and I’ll organize a teaching plan so you can make the most of this experience. You’ll also receive access to Dan’s Capture the Milky Way course so you can start preparing your astrophotography before the trip.
What physical shape do I need to be in?
Most of the trails are moderate in difficulty, but we’ll be hiking and photographing many locations, so being in good physical shape is recommended so that you can enjoy the experience. This is especially important in the Argentine Patagonia region, where the hikes are longer and we’ll be sleeping in tents for 3 of the nights on the trip.
Am I too young/old for this Patagonia photo tour?
There is no age limit to join this Patagonia photo tour.
We do recommend that participants older than 70 years old do a physical examination with a primary care provider (PCP) to make sure that they are physically prepared for this experience.
Can my non-photographer companion join us on the tour?
Non-photographer companions are welcome to join the tour, and they need to book a spot under the same price and conditions as any other participant. (We don’t allow non-participant companions tagging along with the group). We have had plenty of non-photographer companions over the years and all of them enjoyed an amazing experience. As long as they enjoy nature, beautiful landscapes, and are a bit patient with the schedules of a photo tour, joining the trip can be a great experience regardless of the shooting.
Can I bring my drone?
Unfortunately, flying drones is not allowed in any of the national parks that we will visit, so we don’t recommend bringing a drone on this trip.

An incredible experience with leaders David Aguilar and Prince Berkoh. We had a very fun group. The fall colors were at their peak, and we were taken to some excellent spots for landscape photography, especially at sunrise and sunset. The camping set up was first rate, with very accommodating porters, guides and cooks. When the weather wasn't cooperative, our editing walk-throughs with David and Prince were very helpful.
