Photographer, Timelapse Specialist and Instructor at Capture the Atlas

Hi there! I’m Francesco Dall’Olmo, a landscape and timelapse photographer passionate about capturing the natural world. My photography journey began with a fascination for the night sky, and ever since I saw an image of the Milky Way for the first time, I’ve been hooked. I saved up for my first camera and set off on a lifelong adventure of exploring, photographing, and sharing the beauty of the world around us.

I specialize in landscape photography, with a focus on remote places that feel untouched by time. Nature is where I feel most at home, and I love hiking up mountains and camping under starry skies to get the perfect shot. There’s something truly magical about sharing these vast landscapes with other photographers, forming lasting bonds in places few have seen. This connection to nature is what drives me to capture not just the details of a scene but also the mood and emotion. I want my images to transport viewers to those places, making them feel as if they’re standing there with me.

Timelapse photography has become another key part of my work. It allows me to capture the slow, steady movements of light and nature, creating sequences that bring landscapes to life in ways that a single photo can’t. I’m especially drawn to wide, expansive scenes, and I often use a tracker to keep the stars sharp while focusing on the landscape itself. For me, the blend of night and day in these timelapses creates a captivating effect that reveals the world in a whole new way.

One of the things I enjoy most is sharing my love for photography with others. As a self-taught photographer, I understand the challenges of learning on your own, which is why I strive to make my workshops both easygoing and insightful. I focus on explaining the “how” and “why” behind each technique, so participants can develop their own style and approach.

I’m excited to meet you on a Capture the Atlas tour, where we’ll create incredible memories while photographing the world’s most stunning landscapes together!

My happy students

Seeing my students reach their creative goals has been so rewarding! Here’s what some of them have to say about our photo tours:

My wife and I were on a tour to Patagonia with Prince and Francesco in April 2024. She is not a photographer but wanted to join the tour and enjoy Patagonia. Prince and Francesco made sure that she got photo opps and helped her with the basics to get her going. She now wants to start using a mirrorless and start shooting! Thats the best compliment that any tour leader can get. Overall Prince and Francesco made sure that everyone in the group was looked after well, helped with capturing the best moments while photographing and helping with with anything and everything that came up through the tour. Kudos to Prince, Francesco and CTA for setting the bar really high. This is my third trip with CTA and the bar keeps getting higher. Patagonia is paradise but the tour still needs to be managed and organized so that we can enjoy our time and Prince and Francesco made sure that everyone had fun, enjoyed our time and made be a better photographer.

Yesterday a friend asked me to rate our Patagonian adventure with Capture the Atlas on a 1 to 10 scale. I thought for a moment and said, "12". So many reasons. The places are well known but CTA also had some additional vantage points. Prince and Francesco always had a can do attitude. Nothing seemed too much. I always felt well cared for. And the level of detail in planning and follow-up is especially impressive. Hard to recommend this group more.

Nanc & I had an incredible time on Dan’s Dolomite Trip this October David & Francesco were great guides and helped us get to some amazing destinations for photography They also were indispensable in offering photo tips to capture all those fleeting moments By the end of our trip, we felt like close friends to our guides and the other participants I honestly didn’t think I would really learn much as far as photography techniques on the trip. But both David & Francesco showed me things to improve my skills like better composition and focus stacking, that I will always remember. Thanks again for such an epic adventure!

Thank you, David Aguilar and Francesco Dallolmo, for an incredible tour of Southern Iceland. You both were excellent, prepared and helpful guides that made our experience remarkable and unforgettable. Marcia, as a new photographer, appreciated greatly your patience and help every day of the trip and learned an incredible amount. Your help really accelerated her learning and she came back with some amazing photos. I too appreciated the opportunity to learn and your helpfulness in fine-tuning my skills. Thanks, Francesco for making sure I was taken care of at each location with a tripod after my tripod broke early on the trip. This was a bucket list trip for us to be able to photograph the aurora and it was so great being able to capture the Northern Lights on three occasions. We highly recommend Capture the Atlas and you guys. Thanks for everything.

This was an unforgettable experience for me. Bucket list item - check! Prince and Francesco are the reason I will take on photography as a serious hobby. They were amazing mentors. Thank you for giving each one of us individual attention and especially for helping me with the foundational principles of composition and editing my iPhone pictures. Can't wait to participate in another CTA adventure!
