From July 31 to August 4, 2027, you’ll learn from leading eclipse photographers, practice your setup before eclipse day, photograph more than four minutes of totality from our private viewing site, and finish the experience with dedicated editing workshops and image reviews.

This isn’t simply an eclipse tour or workshop. It’s a five-day summit combining pre-event preparation, expert-led lectures, hands-on field instruction, a full eclipse simulation, and post-processing sessions to help you capture this unique event with confidence.

Our private location at Dehesa Montenmedio was carefully selected after extensive research and on-site scouting to maximize our chances of favorable observing conditions while providing outstanding logistics and comfort.

This 5-day eclipse experience is designed to give you the preparation, instruction, and ideal conditions needed to photograph one of the greatest astronomical events of the century.
From expert-led lectures and a full eclipse simulation to post-processing workshops and image reviews, every day combines education, hands-on learning, and unforgettable experiences in Southern Spain.
We’ll meet at our beautiful 5-star Barceló Montecastillo Golf & Sport Resort, where you’ll meet your fellow participants and instructors. After our welcome orientation, we’ll begin the educational program with our first expert lectures, covering eclipse photography planning, equipment, and preparation.
In the evening, we’ll gather for a special welcome dinner and officially kick off the Summit.
After an early breakfast, we’ll travel to our private eclipse location at Dehesa Montenmedio Golf & Country Club for a complete simulation of eclipse day. You’ll be assigned your shooting location, practice your camera setup, test your exposure sequences and automation, and receive guidance from our instructors while enjoying a traditional Andalusian aperitivo.
After returning to the resort for lunch, the afternoon will feature additional expert lectures focused on advanced eclipse photography techniques, creative compositions, and final preparations before the big day.
This is the moment we’ve all been waiting for. After breakfast, we’ll return to Dehesa Montenmedio with plenty of time to set up, perform final equipment checks, and prepare for totality.
Our location offers 4 minutes and 9 seconds of totality, with the Sun approximately 38° above the horizon, providing exceptional conditions for eclipse photography. Throughout the morning, our instructors will be available to answer questions and help with final adjustments.
Please note: During the one hour leading up to totality, our instructors will also be photographing the eclipse, so no instruction should be expected during this period. This is why we dedicate an entire day to preparation and simulation beforehand, ensuring everyone feels confident executing their shooting plan independently.
After the eclipse, we’ll return to the resort to celebrate this extraordinary experience together, with time to relax before enjoying a traditional horse-and-flamenco cultural show and dinner with the group.
The day after the eclipse is dedicated entirely to editing and image processing. Through a series of expert-led classes, you’ll learn techniques for processing the solar corona, blending exposures, revealing prominences, creating composite images, time-lapses, and producing stunning eclipse photographs.
Whether you captured your very first eclipse or you’re adding another to your portfolio, you’ll receive valuable feedback and learn professional workflows from our instructors.
Our final morning is dedicated to sharing your favorite images from the Summit and celebrating everything we’ve experienced together. During our image review session, participants will have the opportunity to receive feedback, discuss their techniques, and showcase their best work before we officially conclude the event at noon.

As with any natural event, weather conditions are unpredictable, and there is no backup plan if clouds obscure the eclipse. Our private location has been carefully selected based on historical weather data, eclipse geometry, accessibility, and photographic potential, but clear skies cannot be guaranteed. By joining this Summit, you acknowledge that the eclipse itself is weather-dependent and non-refundable.
Deposit: $3,000 USD
A $3,000 deposit is required to reserve your spot for this event. You can also pay in full at any time. The remaining balance is due 210 days before the start of the event. If the remaining balance is not paid in full by the due date, you will lose your spot.

Eclipse Photographer & Astronomy Educator (Canada)
Alan Dyer is one of the most respected and experienced eclipse photographers in the world. Since witnessing his first total solar eclipse in 1979, Alan has traveled across the globe to observe and photograph 17 total eclipses, documenting these rare celestial events with remarkable precision and artistry.
A longtime contributor to Sky & Telescope magazine and former columnist for SkyNews, Alan is known for his ability to combine scientific clarity with visual storytelling. His images and time-lapse videos have been featured in National Geographic, TIME, Forbes, NBCNews, CBSNews, APOD, and Spaceweather.com.
Beyond his eclipse work, Alan is an acclaimed author, speaker, and educator in astronomy and astrophotography. He spent decades producing planetarium shows in Canadian cities like Calgary, Edmonton, and Winnipeg, and is a member of the global The World at Night (TWAN) photo initiative. In recognition of his contributions, asteroid #78434 bears his name, and in 2018, Canada Post featured one of his night sky images on a national stamp.
Alan brings both deep technical knowledge and an inspiring passion for eclipses, making him an invaluable lead expert for this summit.

In eclipse photography, the focal length of your camera lens determines the field of view and level of detail you can capture in the corona, diamond rings, etc. Lenses in the 85–600mm range are versatile for a variety of shots, but you may also want to supplement with fish-eye and superzoom lenses.

Early August in Southern Spain typically brings hot, sunny conditions, especially around midday. Since both the eclipse simulation and the eclipse itself will take place during the morning, you should be prepared for strong sun exposure and several hours outdoors.
To stay comfortable and focused throughout the event, we recommend bringing:
The eclipse will take place during the morning, with the Sun reaching approximately 38° above the horizon during totality. Although temperatures will be lower than during the hottest part of the afternoon, sun protection and hydration will still be essential.
We’ll also provide a complete list of clothing and comfort recommendations in the Welcome Package before the event.
Travelers from outside the European Union may need a Schengen visa depending on their nationality. Citizens of many countries, including the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, and Australia, can currently visit Spain visa-free for stays of up to 90 days within any 180-day period.
The European Union currently expects the ETIAS travel authorization system to begin operating during the final quarter of 2026. Therefore, visa-exempt travelers attending this event in July 2027 should expect to obtain an approved ETIAS authorization before traveling to Spain. The exact launch date has not yet been announced.
We’ll keep you posted with any updates related to ETIAS and when it comes into effect.

During the Summit, we’ll be based at the Barceló Montecastillo Golf & Sport Resort, a 5-star hotel surrounded by nature and set beside a beautiful 19th-century castle on the outskirts of Jerez de la Frontera. The resort is approximately 10 minutes from Jerez Airport and the city, and around 30 minutes from the coast.
The resort offers everything you need to relax between lectures and field sessions, including spacious rooms and villas, several outdoor swimming pools, landscaped grounds, restaurants, a fitness center, and a Spa with saunas, hydromassage facilities, massage cabins, and an indoor pool.
All participants will have private accommodation on a single-occupancy basis. The rooms combine contemporary design with the classic elegance of the property. Double occupancy can be requested for participants traveling with a companion.
Dining options include El Lagar Restaurant, serving Spanish, regional, and international cuisine, and El Tabanco Bar, offering drinks and light snacks. The hotel is also part of the Jerez Wine and Brandy Route, making it an ideal base for experiencing the culinary and winemaking traditions of Andalusia.
Several group meals will take place at the resort, including our welcome dinner, daily lunches, and post-eclipse gatherings. All lectures and editing sessions will be hosted in its professional conference facilities, which include a dedicated convention center and fully equipped meeting rooms suitable for presentations, live demonstrations, and interactive classes.
Our eclipse observation and photography will take place in a private area within Dehesa Montenmedio Golf & Country Club, near Vejer de la Frontera. This carefully selected site lies within the path of totality and offers 4 minutes and 9 seconds of total eclipse.
At maximum eclipse, the Sun will be approximately 38° above the horizon, providing excellent conditions for telephoto imaging, wide angle compositions, time lapses, and automated eclipse sequences. The location also offers a clear view toward the eastern sky, ample space for multiple setups, and convenient access for a large photography group.
What makes this site exceptional:
The site is far enough inland to reduce the risk of coastal cloud while avoiding the more variable conditions associated with higher terrain. Its combination of eclipse duration, accessibility, privacy, facilities, and weather prospects makes it one of the strongest locations in Spain for photographing the 2027 Total Solar Eclipse.
Important: As with any natural event, eclipse visibility is entirely weather dependent. Due to the timing and logistics of the Summit, no backup location or alternate date can be guaranteed in case of cloud cover.
The most convenient airport for this event is Jerez Airport (XRY), located approximately 10 minutes from Barceló Montecastillo Golf & Sport Resort. However, Jerez is a regional airport with a more limited selection of domestic and European routes, so many international travelers will need to connect through another city.

We recommend comparing all four airports before booking, as the most convenient option will depend on your flight connections, arrival time, luggage, and any plans to extend your trip in Spain. We’ll provide detailed arrival instructions and transportation recommendations before the Summit.
All transportation between Barceló Montecastillo and our private eclipse location at Dehesa Montenmedio near Vejer de la Frontera is included. We’ll use private chartered buses for both the simulation day and eclipse day, ensuring comfortable and coordinated transfers for the entire group.
Transportation to and from the resort at the beginning and end of the Summit is not included. Participants arriving through Jerez Airport can reach the hotel by taxi in approximately 10 minutes. Those arriving through Seville, Madrid, or Málaga will need to arrange their own train, rental car, or private transfer to Jerez.
Guests arriving by car can use the resort’s parking facilities. Availability, reservation requirements, and any applicable fees should be confirmed directly with the hotel before arrival.
Please note that official Summit transportation only covers the activities included in the itinerary. Any transportation required for personal plans or trip extensions must be arranged independently.

Yes. You’ll need to bring your own photography equipment, including a DSLR or mirrorless camera, tripod, and, if desired, solar filters, trackers, remote shutter releases, and other accessories. Absolutely. This Summit is specifically designed to prepare photographers for every stage of the eclipse, from solar safety and camera settings to exposure sequences and post-processing. Many participants will be photographing their first total solar eclipse.
Yes. You’ll receive extensive hands-on instruction during our simulation day and throughout eclipse morning. However, during the final hour before totality, our instructors will also be photographing the eclipse, so no instruction should be expected during that time. Our preparation is designed so you’ll feel confident executing your shooting plan independently.
A certified solar filter designed for your camera lens or telescope is required for safely photographing the partial phases of the eclipse. We’ll provide recommendations during the pre-event online sessions and in your Welcome Brochure.

Jerez Airport (XRY) is the closest airport, located just 10 minutes from the resort. Seville (SVQ), Madrid (MAD), and Málaga (AGP) are also excellent options depending on your itinerary and international flight connections.
