1. Isla de Lobos, one of the best excursions in Fuerteventura
Taking an excursion to Isla de Lobos from Fuerteventura is one of the best things you can do during your visit to the island. Isla de Lobos is an islet and protected natural park that belongs to Fuerteventura, so you can only visit it if you have a permit. There is a limited number of permits available per day, and visitors can only stay on the islet for four hours.
This means you have two options if you want to visit Isla de Lobos. First, you can book a ticket to ride the ferry to Isla de Lobos, which may or may not include an access permit. The other option is to book a tour like this that takes care of everything for you. This tour from Fuerteventura to Isla de Lobos includes your access permit and a round-trip ferry ticket. Part of the tour is a short swimming and snorkeling session, and all necessary equipment is included.
You can take this excursion in the morning or afternoon, and both options give you a few hours to explore the island on your own.

2. Fuerteventura Buggy tour through the Dunes of Corralejo
If you’re looking for an excursion in Fuerteventura to see the Dunes of Corralejo, this buggy tour is the best option. The Dunes of Corralejo are in Corralejo Natural Park, the main attraction in Corralejo, which spans 6,400 acres, and five miles of beach, and has been under protected status since 1994. That said, the most spectacular part of the park is the large dunes, which were formed over years of strong wind conditions on the island.
We’ve visited this area on our own, exploring the best beaches in Corralejo, but we’ve also taken the buggy tour, and I highly recommend it. The tour includes a buggy ride through the landscapes of Fuerteventura, including Corralejo Natural Park and the dunes. You’ll be able to stop and enjoy the views, as well as visit nearby Holandés Park, passing through the volcanic zone of Villaverde along the way.
This Fuerteventura buggy tour is led by a guide, so you’ll be totally safe. Each buggy can hold two people, and at least one of the riders must have a driver’s license.

3. Dolphin and whale watching tour, a fun excursion in Fuerteventura
A Fuerteventura dolphin tour is one of the best excursions you can take, as the experience is unforgettable.
You can see all the best tours to see whales and dolphins in Fuerteventura in our guide, although I’ll tell you here that I highly recommend this one. It departs from Morro de Jable, and you’ll cruise along the coast while enjoying views of Jandía Beach.
Once you reach the area that’s inhabited by dolphins and whales, you’ll have some time to sightsee and witness these majestic creatures.
Of course, keep in mind that these are wild animals that live freely in the sea, so there are boat trips in Fuerteventura that can guarantee the number or type of cetaceans you’ll see. However, the tour company has been doing these excursions for years, so they know the best areas to go to see whales and dolphins. So, chances are high that you’ll see some during this Fuerteventura tour.
- Highlights: Dolphin and whale-watching in Fuerteventura
- Departure point: Morro de Jable
- Duration: 1.5 hours

4. Jeep tour through Cofete Natural Park, an adventurous excursion in Fuerteventura
An off-road tour through Cofete Natural Park is another great excursion in Fuerteventura. If you’re interested in this type of tour, I recommend this one to the beaches of Cofete, some of the best beaches in Fuerteventura.
You’ll ride in a 4×4 Jeep and explore Cofete Natural Park, where you’ll make a stop at one of the viewpoints between the mountains. From there, you’ll get beautiful views of the island’s landscape. You’ll also visit Villa Winter, a place with lots of German history. Finally, you’ll pass by the old lighthouse of Punta Jandía, Cerro del Amor, and the Jandía Peninsula.

5. Calderón Hondo volcano tour, the best hiking excursion in Fuerteventura
The Calderón Hondo Volcano is one of the coolest places to see on the island, so I recommend booking this hiking tour to experience it for yourself. You’ll learn more about the volcanic activity on Fuerteventura, which led to the emergence of Isla de Lobos.
During this Fuerteventura excursion, you’ll get an up-close view of the Calderón Hondo volcano and its crater, which is about 230 feet deep, and one of the best-preserved calderas on the island. This is also one of the best lookout points in Fuerteventura, where you can get lovely views of the island, particularly the town of Lajares and the Malpaís area. It’s one of the hikes in Fuerteventura you don’t want to miss.
I recommend having your camera ready at all times since you can spot lots of native fauna here, such as squirrels, goats, and various birds you can only find here. Without a doubt, this is one of the best volcano tours in Fuerteventura if you like to hike and you want to discover the volcanic origins of the island.

You’ll travel by van to see the famous Dunes of Corralejo, then visit Puerto del Rosario and other beautiful towns that dot the island. Along the way, you’ll witness the incredible volcanic and desert landscapes that characterize Fuerteventura.
The tour includes a stop at Sotavento Beach, one of the best beaches in the southern part of the island. Then, head to the picturesque rural town of Pájara, the fishing village of Ajuy, and the oldest part of the island, Betancuria Natural Park. While you’re here, keep your camera handy for photos of hawks, eagles, vultures, and sparrowhawks.
This Fuerteventura tour ends at Tindaya mountain, also known as the Sacred Mountain. It’s in the northwestern part of the island and is known for its pyramidal shape, arid landscape, and unique flora and fauna.

7. Glass bottom boat tour and lunch, an interesting Fuerteventura excursion
A Fuerteventura boat trip is another wonderful option if you want to explore the island, and this cruise in a glass bottom boat is one of the best.
During the tour, you’ll travel along the coast of Jandía Natural Park, enjoying unique views from the panoramic glass bottom floor. With some luck, you’ll also see dolphins and whales since this area is often inhabited by cetaceans. Of course, there is no guarantee that you’ll see these marine creatures, as they’re wild animals, but whenever we’ve taken a dolphin tour in Fuerteventura, we’ve seen dolphins and whales.
Along the way, you’ll make a short stop to do some water sports, like swimming, snorkeling, paddle surfing, or kayaking. A traditional Canarian lunch is also included, so this is one of the best day trips in Fuerteventura you can take.
- Highlights: Cruise along the coast of Jandía Natural Park in a glass bottom boat

8. Hiking route along the coast of Fuerteventura, a scenic excursion on Fuerteventura
Another great hiking tour in Fuerteventura that I recommend is this one, which explores the beautiful coast of the island.
During this Fuerteventura excursion, you’ll discover the Barranco de Las Peñitas and its hermitage before making the descent where, according to legend, the Virgen de la Peña appeared. This place isn’t overcrowded with tourists, so it’s a nice spot to capture lovely scenic views as well as photos of wild goats and birds of prey.
Next, you’ll visit the Ajuy Caves and the charming fishing village next to them, where you’ll walk to the oldest part of the island and see a black sand beach. Here, there is a giant monolith that’s shrouded in mystery, so it’s quite an impressive place. On the way back to Ajuy, you’ll be able to reenergize yourself at one of the seafood restaurants in the area.

9. Hiking tour to the Gairía volcano, another fun excursion in Fuerteventura
The Gairía volcano is a fairly young volcanic cone in the town of Tiscamanita, in the center of the island. Even so, it’s well worth visiting, particularly by taking a Fuerteventura volcano tour.
More specifically, I recommend this excursion, which takes you to the top of La Gairía, about 1,512 feet above sea level. From here, you’ll enjoy beautiful views, although I only recommend this tour if you’re in good physical shape since the terrain has slopes and uneven parts. Of course, all the physical effort is a small price to pay to see some of the most incredible landscapes on the island.
In addition, the hike is led by an expert guide who will tell you all about La Gairía, the first settlers on Fuerteventura, and how they adapted their agricultural practices for the volcanic soil. You’ll also have the opportunity to try goat cheese made by local shepherds.
- Highlights: Hiking tour of the Gairía volcano and a visit to a farm to taste local goat cheese and other products

10. Excursion to Lanzarote from Fuerteventura
If you have the time to take an excursion from Fuerteventura to Lanzarote, I recommend this full-day tour.
This excursion includes round-trip ferry service between the islands, so you don’t have to worry about a thing. After departing from Corralejo, you’ll arrive at Playa Blanca, one of the top places to visit in Lanzarote. You’ll also visit Timanfaya National Park, which is home to unique geomorphological structures and volcanic landscapes.
Another place you’ll visit is the wine region of La Geria, which is known for its vineyards and black volcanic ash. This tour from Fuerteventura includes a wine tasting as well as a visit to the Aloe Vera Museum, an interesting place where you can learn about this plant’s properties. You’ll also stop by the Charco de los Clicos, a series of impressive cliffs.
Finally, make your way back to Playa Blanca, where the ferry will take you back to Corralejo. This is one of the best day trips from Fuerteventura, and I highly recommend it if you have time and want to see another Canary Island.
