Are you wondering where to stay in Lanzarote? If you’re visiting this beautiful island of the Canary Islands and don’t know which area is best to enjoy Lanzarote to its fullest, don’t worry. We’ve got you covered. In this guide, you will find everything you need to choose a hotel in Lanzarote that lets you do whatever you want to do: go to the beach, discover its volcanoes or its incredible lookouts, go partying, go shopping…
We stayed in different areas on our trip to Lanzarote, since, although the island is small, that is the best way to get to know some of the wonderful towns to stay in Lanzarote and enjoy all its cultural and gastronomic gems.
However, if you want to get a cheap hotel, I recommend staying in a single area. Don’t worry; although there are countless places to visit in Lanzarote, it will only take you an hour by car to get from the north to the south of the island. This is also a good option if you’re looking for a Lanzarote vacation package that includes flight + hotel, even if you choose one of the all-inclusive hotels in Lanzarote, as there are quite a few and they are very cheap.
In any case, to help you choose the best areas to stay in Lanzarote for you, in this guide you will find:
- Best areas to stay in Lanzarote, Canary Islands
- All-inclusive hotels in Lanzarote
- Cheap accommodations in Lanzarote
- Holiday Packages in Lanzarote (Flight + hotel)
- Airbnb in Lanzarote

Best areas to stay in Lanzarote, Canary Islands
In this section, you will find the best places to stay in Lanzarote, Canary Islands, in order of popularity. Also, I’ll tell you about my experience staying in the area, the hotels we stayed in, and the most typical things to do there.
Luckily, hotels in Lanzarote are considerably cheaper compared to the other Canary Islands, so you can stay in a great hotel without having to pay a lot of money.
1. Playa Blanca, the best place to stay in Lanzarote
Playa Blanca is the best area to stay in Lanzarote because it has everything: beautiful beaches, nightlife, shopping, attractions, and good restaurants. I also consider this place an ideal area if you want to stay by Timanfaya National Park and the popular Papagayo beach, since both attractions are less than 20 minutes away by car.
In addition, the ferries to Fuerteventura depart from this city, which is why we stayed here for one night. We truly regret that we didn’t spend more time here. Even traveling in January, Playa Blanca had a lot of activity and a great atmosphere, so it isn’t surprising that it’s one of the most popular places to find accommodation in Lanzarote.
These are the best hotels in Lanzarote here:
- Premium option: H10 White Suites Boutique Hotel – Adults Only
- Standard option: H10 Rubicón Palace
- Low-cost option: Elba Lanzarote Royal Village Resort
2. Costa Teguise, a great choice of accommodation in Lanzarote
Costa Teguise is one of the favorite places to sleep in Lanzarote for families. Despite its small size, you will find everything you need in Costa Teguise.
If you decide to stay here, you can enjoy Las Cucharas beach; you will be very close to Aquapark Costa Teguise, the only water park on the island; and you can sign up for a windsurfing or diving course.
Costa Teguise is also very popular for its music festivals, so depending on the time of year you travel, you might be able to enjoy one of them.
Here are the best hotels in Lanzarote in the Costa Teguise area:
- Premium option: Barceló Teguise Beach – Adults Only
- Standard option: Occidental Lanzarote Playa
- Low-cost option: Occidental Lanzarote Mar
3. Puerto del Carmen, the best hotels in Lanzarote, Canary Islands
Puerto del Carmen is a city with a wide range of hotels, so it’s not surprising to find some of the best hotels in Lanzarote here. Besides, it’s also where some of the best beaches on the island are.
I recommend you visit Playa Grande, Playa Chica, and Los Pocillos beach, where, in addition to swimming and sunbathing, you can do all kinds of water sports. In Puerto del Carmen, you can also party, shop, rent a bicycle and taste the typical dishes of Lanzarote in one of the many restaurants. You will also be close to Timanfaya National Park.
We stayed here for two nights during our trip, and I think that, because of its location, it’s one of the best options.
If you decide to book a hotel in Lanzarote in Puerto del Carmen, I recommend the following:
- Premium option: Hyde Park Lane
- Standard option: Jable Bermuda Apartments
- Low-cost option: Gloria Izaro Club Hot
4. Arrecife, one of the best locations to stay in Lanzarote
Arrecife is the capital of the island, making it a good place to stay in Lanzarote. If you want to discover the history and culture of Lanzarote, I recommend you look at hotels in Arrecife, since the city hasn’t lost its seafaring character or its historical essence as a defensive fortress.
You can visit the Castillo de San Gabriel and the Puente de las Bolas, visit the neighborhood of San Ginés and see its natural pools, and go to El Reducto beach.
These are the accommodations that I recommend in the capital of Lanzarote:
- Premium option: Arrecife Gran Hotel & Spa
- Standard option: Lancelot Hotel
- Low-cost option: Diamar Hotel
5. Caleta de Famara, a good area to stay in Lanzarote
La Caleta de Famara, in the municipality of Teguise, is the perfect place to rent an apartment in Lanzarote.
This town is one of my favorite places to look for accommodation in Lanzarote, since it belongs to Chinijo Natural Park. Its unique location means you can see beautiful landscapes from here. Everything is charming in La Caleta: its white houses, the Risco de Famara, its sunsets…
If you decide to find your holiday apartment in Lanzarote in Caleta de Famara, you can also enjoy the fresh fish they serve in the town’s restaurants. You can even visit Famara beach, which is perfect for relaxing and watching surfers catch waves (or doing it yourself).
These are the best accommodations in Caleta de Famara:
- Premium option: Red Star Surf & Yoga Camp Lanzarote
- Standard option: Apartment in Famara Beach
- Low-cost option: Sunset Inn
6. Haría, an interesting option for sleeping in Lanzarote, Canary Islands
Haría is located in the north of Lanzarote, very close to Órzola, and is the best option if you are looking for charming accommodation in Lanzarote.
We stayed here the day before visiting La Graciosa since the ferry departs from Órzola, where there are very few accommodations.
The attraction of this place is that it is the greenest area of Lanzarote, and it is here where most of the island’s native flora grows. In addition, the municipality of Haría is also known as the “Valley of a Thousand Palms.” I recommend seeing the palm grove that gives this area its name from the lookout point “Mirador de Los Helechos”. The views are beautiful.
If you decide to look for a hotel in Lanzarote in the Haría area, you will be close to the César Manrique Museum, the Cueva de Los Verdes, the Jameos del Agua, the Mirador del Río, and other main attractions on the island. In addition, it’s the best place to learn about the artisan and manufacturing tradition of Lanzarote.
If you decide to do what we did and, instead of staying in a single hotel for your entire stay, change accommodation, stay in Haría for at least one day.
Here is the list of the accommodations in Lanzarote located in Haría that I recommend:
- Premium option: Villa Rural Gloria’s
- Standard option: Casita Susi
- Low-cost option: Casa Valle de Palmeras
7. Arrieta, an area where I recommend staying in Lanzarote
Not far away is Arrieta, a very beautiful town that we thought of as a place to stay in Lanzarote but, in the end, we decided against. However, the town has a lot of charm, and if you can’t find accommodation in Haría, I consider it a great place to look for a hotel in Lanzarote.
I recommend you stay here if you want to taste the authentic gastronomy of the Canary Islands and you want to rest and relax. You can visit La Garita beach, which is perfect for surfing, El Charchón, and Casa Juanita.
If you want to sleep in a tranquil place in Lanzarote, these are the accommodations in Arrieta that I recommend:
- Premium option: El Charcon Apartments
- Standard option: Apartment in the town of Arrieta 2
- Low-cost option: Club JM Lanzarote
8. Staying in La Graciosa, a recommended experience in Lanzarote
La Graciosa has been independent of Lanzarote since 2018, but if you go to Lanzarote, don’t miss a visit to La Graciosa. Also, if you have the opportunity, spend a night there so you have time to get to know it thoroughly.
To get to La Graciosa, you will have to take a ferry that departs from Órzola and goes to Caleta de Sebo. We visited La Graciosa during our trip to the Canary Islands, and we fell in love with this small island that belongs to the Chinijo archipelago.
When you visit, I recommend going to Las Conchas beach, climbing the Montaña Bermeja, photographing the Arcos de Los Caletones, and diving in the incredible waters.
If you decide to spend the night here, you have to know that apartments in La Graciosa, Lanzarote, tend to fill up quite quickly, so I recommend booking ASAP. Camping is another option and the one we chose. To get the camping permit for La Graciosa check this website.
If you’re going to rent an apartment in La Graciosa, Lanzarote, these are the best options:
All-inclusive hotels in Lanzarote
If what you want is to travel without worries and rest and disconnect from everything, you can book an all-inclusive hotel in Lanzarote. In the Canary Islands, it’s very common to find hotels like this most months of the year. Additionally, they’re extremely cheap if you compare them to other hotels of this type in other parts of the world.
If you’re looking for all-inclusive hotels in Lanzarote, I recommend the following:
- Barceló Teguise Beach – Adults Only, one of the best all-inclusive hotels in Lanzarote
- Aequora Lanzarote Suites, an all-inclusive hotel to stay in Lanzarote
- H10 White Suites Boutique Hotel – Adults Only, good all-inclusive accommodation in Lanzarote
- H10 Rubicón Palace, a recommended all-inclusive hotel in Lanzarote
- Occidental Lanzarote Mar, an all-inclusive hotel in Lanzarote near the beach
Cheap accommodations in Lanzarote
If you are traveling on a budget and looking for cheap accommodation in Lanzarote, don’t worry. The wide range of hotels on this island makes it totally possible to find good and cheap hotels to sleep in Lanzarote. Of course, I recommend you book in advance because they are the accommodations that fill up first.
These are the cheap hotels in Lanzarote with the best value for money:
- Lancelot Hotel, a well-located cheap hotel in Lanzarote
- Diamar Hotel, a place to sleep cheap in Lanzarote’s capital
- Miramar Hotel, a good place to stay cheap in Lanzarote
- Tisalaya Apartments, a budget apartment in Lanzarote, Canary Islands
- Residencia Cardona Hostel, a cheap place to sleep in Lanzarote
- Islamar Arrecife Apartments, Lanzarote cheap apartment near the beach
Holiday Packages in Lanzarote (Flight + hotel)
Another way to plan your trip to Lanzarote is through holiday packages that include a flight and hotel in Lanzarote. If you want to book hotels and flights to Lanzarote together, I recommend checking the Orbitz and Expedia websites since they give the best price.
You can save money with a Lanzarote flight + hotel package, since you book everything together through a single company. That way, you only pay commission once, not twice as you do when you buy hotels and flights separately. It also has other advantages- it’s faster and convenient because everything is managed at the same time and through the same intermediary.
In any case, even if it seems cheaper at first, I always recommend comparing the total price of the flight plus hotel package to Lanzarote with the total of buying things separately to choose the best option. We always use Kiwi.com to check the price of flights.
Airbnb in Lanzarote
If you prefer to stay in an apartment in Lanzarote, I recommend you look at Airbnb. We have used this website on several occasions, and although we have had some bad experiences, we have had many more good ones, so it is an option that I also recommend. I share all you need to know about Airbnb here.
To avoid unpleasant surprises, always read the reviews of other travelers who have stayed in the place.
I consider renting apartments in Lanzarote a very good option, especially in places where there are few hotels, where you may find an Airbnb in Lanzarote. If you don’t have an Airbnb account yet, you will get $50 off your first trip if you sign in now.
Best campsites in Lanzarote
Camping in Lanzarote is also a great option, although it is only available during the summer months (which is why, since we traveled in January, we left without trying it).
The only campsite in Lanzarote is in an idyllic location, just a few minutes from Papagayo beach and other incredible beaches found in the Los Ajaches Natural Monument. It has 64 pitches for tents and 220 for motorhomes. It has toilets, showers, barbecue areas, hooks for water supply, electric light, and other services.
If you want to camp here, you have to make a reservation by calling +34 928-177-778 / +34 679-090-619 or emailing firstname.lastname@example.org. If we return to Lanzarote in summer, we will definitely spend a night in this magical place.
