Sin City’s main boulevard doesn’t disappoint, and you’ll find tons of cool things to do on the Las Vegas Strip. As I mention in my article on the top things to do in Las Vegas, the Strip is a four-mile stretch of casinos, hotels, and endless activities.
There are all kinds of things to see in the Las Vegas Strip, and we find something new every time we come back to this area. Even if the party atmosphere isn’t your style, there are other interesting sites and attractions that I’m sure you’ll enjoy.
To make the most of your time, I recommend getting the Go Las Vegas All-Inclusive Pass. It’s the best citypass in Las Vegas and includes over 45 attractions, so it’s a great deal. Another option is getting a hop-on hop-off bus pass, which is one of the most convenient modes of transportation in Vegas and takes you past many of the top attractions.
While this guide focuses on the best things to do in the Las Vegas Strip, I’ll also share some accommodation options. This is one of the best areas to stay in Sin City, so be sure to check out our guide on the best hotels on the Las Vegas Strip!
1. See the Bellagio Fountains, one of the best things to do in Las Vegas on the Strip
The Bellagio is one of the best hotels in Las Vegas, although you don’t have to book a room here to enjoy its free light show.
The Bellagio Fountains performance is a must-see on the Las Vegas Strip, and you have plenty of opportunities to see it. The show runs every 15-30 minutes starting at 3 p.m., with different variations throughout the afternoon and evening.
Located right outside The Bellagio resort, the fountains feature thousands of water jets and sprayers synced to music and special lighting effects. The water can shoot up to 460 feet high, and there are virtually endless combinations of movements based on the music that’s playing.
While you’re here, it’s also worth visiting the Bellagio Conservatory & Botanical Garden. This is another free thing to do in the Las Vegas Strip, and a great attraction for all ages. The conservatory is full of beautiful blooms, tropical plants, and seasonal displays, so you’ll see something new every time you go.
2. Climb to the top of the Eiffel Tower, the best thing to do on the Vegas Strip as a couple
If you’re looking for things to do on the Las Vegas Strip for couples, I recommend visiting the Eiffel Tower at Paris Las Vegas Hotel. This romantic attraction is perfect for date night, and while you won’t be in France, you’ll be able to enjoy the glittering lights of the Strip.
Las Vegas’ Eiffel Tower is a half-scale replica, standing 46 stories high and offering gorgeous panoramic views. This viewing deck is the ideal spot to watch The Bellagio Fountains show or enjoy sweeping views of Sin City and the surrounding mountains.
You’ll take a glass elevator up to the top, where you can walk around the open-air deck. It’s one of the most romantic things to do in Las Vegas as a couple, and you can even indulge in a gourmet meal here at one of Vegas’ best restaurants.
That said, this Las Vegas Strip attraction is also quite impressive from ground level, especially after dark. The Eiffel Tower features hundreds of synchronized color-changing LEDs and strobe lights, which flash and coordinate during the nightly light show. It’s free to watch, but if you want to go to the top of the Eiffel Tower, you’ll need a ticket. You can get yours in advance here or use your Go Las Vegas All-Inclusive Pass.
3. Take a gondola ride, a romantic thing to do on the Strip in Las Vegas
Taking a gondola ride is another fun thing to do on the Las Vegas Strip with your partner. The Grand Canal Shoppes at The Venetian resort is one of the most impressive attractions in Sin City, featuring luxury shops, free performances, and romantic gondola rides.
Imagine you’re being whisked off to the picturesque canals of Venice, Italy, and delight at the architectural replicas of the Rialto Bridge and other Italian landmarks. Your gondolier will steer your boat past shops and restaurants, as well as through an outdoor portion where you can get views of the Strip.
This experience is a bit pricey, but if you’re looking for a unique thing to do on the Strip or you want to surprise your partner with a serenading boat cruise, it’s worth it. You can book your ticket in advance here or bundle your gondola ride with Madame Tussauds by getting this combo ticket.
4. Ride the High Roller, a fun thing to do on the Strip in Vegas with kids
If you’re looking for kid-friendly things to do on the Vegas Strip, check out the LINQ Promenade. Here, you’ll find cafes, activities, and stores, making it a fun place to visit in Las Vegas during the day.
The most popular attraction at the LINQ Promenade is the High Roller observation wheel, and at 550 feet tall, you can’t miss it! Even if you don’t like heights, I still recommend riding the High Roller because you’ll get the most amazing panoramic views of the city and its surroundings.
Each of the cabins on the observation wheel can accommodate 40 people. It takes around 30 minutes for the wheel to make a complete revolution, and there is seating so you can rest and enjoy the views. Plus, if you ride the High Roller at night, you’ll see the entire Strip all lit up.
Of course, this is one of the most popular activities on the Las Vegas Strip, so I suggest getting your ticket in advance.
5. Try the slots at a casino, a popular thing to do on the Las Vegas Strip
It wouldn’t be a trip to Sin City if you didn’t visit a casino or two. Trying your hand at the slots and table games is one of the top things to do on the Las Vegas Strip, and you have plenty of casinos to choose from.
Most of the best casinos in Las Vegas are right along the Strip, so you can take your pick. While you’ll find many similarities between these casinos, some of them are better than others, depending on your interests.
For example, the exclusive poker rooms at The Bellagio and ARIA Resort are popular with high rollers. Meanwhile, The D Las Vegas at the corner of the Fremont Street Experience features vintage games and the only dancing dealers in Sin City. Circus Circus has three casinos as well as a family-friendly arcade where the kids can have fun.
From slots and Keno to table games like craps and roulette, you’ll find all your favorite games at any Vegas Strip casino, so have fun, and remember to play responsibly.
6. Take a helicopter tour, the best thing to do on the Vegas Strip at night
Seeing the Strip from a viewing deck or the High Roller is cool, but what about flying over Las Vegas Boulevard? A helicopter tour is one of the best things to do on the Strip in Vegas, and it was the highlight of our trip.
I recommend booking your tour at sunset so you can get beautiful golden hour views when you take off. Then, watch the Strip begin to light up as the nightlife gets started. You’ll want to bring your camera since the views from the helicopter are unique and offer a fresh perspective of this iconic boulevard.
You can read our guide to find the best Las Vegas helicopter tours and see the ones we took. That said, you can’t go wrong with this tour, which is included in the Go Las Vegas All-Inclusive 3-Day Pass. I suggest opting for the evening flight for the most magical experience. Hands down, it’s one of the best things to do on the Las Vegas Strip at night.
7. Ride the Big Apple Coaster, another thing to do in Las Vegas Strip with family
Another fun thing to do in the Las Vegas Strip is riding the Big Apple Coaster at New York – New York. If you’re a roller coaster fanatic or you have kids who want to experience the thrill of traveling 67 mph along a steel track, you can’t miss it.
As the name suggests, the Big Apple Coaster is inspired by NYC. The entire New York – New York resort is an homage to the city, and the roller coaster takes you past replicas of iconic NYC landmarks, as well as through an interior section that resembles Manhattan’s Little Italy neighborhood.
You’ll also snake around the hotel’s exterior, zoom down a heart-stopping 203-foot drop, and experience two inversions. If that sounds exciting to you, grab a ticket in advance or use your Go Las Vegas All-Inclusive Pass.
While this is one of the most thrilling things to do on the Strip in Las Vegas, you can also visit the Big Apple Arcade for something more low-key. It features classic games like skee-ball, air hockey, claw machines, and more.
8. Visit the Fabulous Las Vegas sign, a free thing to do on the Las Vegas Strip
Another Las Vegas Strip attraction that I must mention is the Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas sign. This iconic sign has been greeting visitors since 1959, and it’s one of the best photo spots on the Strip.
The sign is located at 5100 Las Vegas Boulevard South, next to the Bali Hai Golf Club and not far from Mandalay Bay resort. Stopping here is the perfect way to start your trip in Sin City, and it’s free to visit day and night.
We couldn’t resist getting a photo taken here during our trip, and even though we had to wait in line, it was worth it. Besides, it’s a free Las Vegas attraction, so if you’re coming here with your partner or family, it’s a nice way to commemorate your trip.
9. Check out the SkyPod and its thrill rides, an exciting thing to do on the Las Vegas Strip
While you’re walking along the Strip, you’ll notice the SkyPod at The STRAT. At 1,149 feet high, it’s the tallest freestanding observation tower in the U.S., and one of the coolest places to go on the Las Vegas Strip.
This famous Vegas landmark offers something for everyone, and you can visit during the day or at night. Take the elevator to the observation decks on levels 108 and 109, and marvel at the spectacular 360° views of the Strip and the surroundings. There are indoor and outdoor viewing areas, so it’s a nice thing to do on the Vegas Strip as a family.
If you come here at night, I recommend heading to the 107 SkyLounge for cocktails with a view. You could also visit the Top of the World Restaurant, which is 800 feet above the city in a revolving dining room.
The STRAT even has a wedding chapel where you can get married at the center of the Las Vegas Strip. In addition, the thrill rides atop the SkyPod are wild enough to make any adrenaline junkie’s heart skip a beat. To give you an idea of these extreme attractions, one of them involves leaping from 829 feet up and falling through the air at 40 mph.
10. Fly LINQ zipline, another cool thing to do on the Strip in Las Vegas
The Fly LINQ zipline is another thrilling attraction on the Las Vegas Strip, although it’s not as extreme as the SkyPod rides. The zipline is part of the LINQ promenade, where you can check out the High Roller and a variety of shops and restaurants.
This zipline stands out because it has a series of 10 lines, so you can fly through the air with your friends or family. You’ll take off from the 114-foot-tall launch tower and travel up to 35 mph along the 1,121-foot-long zipline. The ride takes less than a minute, but it’s an exhilarating experience, and you’ll get a unique perspective of the LINQ Promenade.
You can get a ticket for the zipline here, although if you also plan on riding the High Roller, I recommend the Go Las Vegas All-Inclusive Pass, which includes both attractions.
If you’re interested in similar things to do on the Vegas Strip, check out the SlotZilla zipline at the Fremont Street Experience or the Rio Zipline at the Rio Hotel.
11. Check out the Fremont Street Experience, another popular thing to do on the Vegas Strip
Speaking of the Fremont Street Experience, it’s one of the best places to visit in the Las Vegas Strip. Here, you’ll find entertainment and activities for the entire family, and the area is open 24 hours a day.
The SlotZilla zipline is one of the most popular attractions here, although if the idea of flying through the air from 11 stories up is too much for you, there are lots of other things to do. Throughout the day and night, there are concerts and performances, many of which are free. There is also an entertainment complex and mall with shops, cafes, bars, and more.
After dark, you can watch the Viva Vision light show, which features over 12 million LEDs and a state-of-the-art sound system. It’s free, so if you’re looking for cheap things to do in Las Vegas Strip, I highly recommend it.
While most of the attractions here are free or very cheap, there are some attractions you have to pay for. One of them is this walking tour, which takes you through the history of Fremont Street, where the first Las Vegas hotels and casinos opened. It’s super interesting, and it’s also included in the Go Las Vegas All-Inclusive Pass.
12. Visit a museum, something to do on the Las Vegas Strip if it rains
A museum may not be the first thing you think of when imagining Las Vegas, but there are several fascinating institutions here worth visiting. I recommend keeping these museums in mind in case you end up having to find things to do on the Las Vegas Strip on a rainy day.
One of the top Las Vegas museums is the Neon Museum, which houses old neon signs from the city’s past. There are several interesting exhibits, including a ‘Neon Boneyard’ full of hundreds of old casino and hotel signs. Walking through the collection is a fun thing to do on the Las Vegas Strip at night, and it’s something both kids and adults will enjoy.
The Mob Museum is another popular place to check out. It features four floors of artifacts and interactive exhibits where you can learn about the city’s history of mobsters, gangsters, and organized crime. There is even a Prohibition-era distillery where you can grab a drink after walking through the museum.
The Mob Museum is included in the Go Las Vegas All-Inclusive Pass, along with Madame Tussauds, a wax museum with over 100 figures. It’s a great place to go as a family since the kids will love posing with their favorite superheroes and pop stars, while adults can snap convincing selfies with Beyonce, Lady Gaga, and others.
13. Cool off at a pool party, the best thing to do on Las Vegas Strip with friends
If you’re visiting Sin City during the summer, it’s going to be very hot, so consider cooling down at one of the best pools in Las Vegas.
Mandalay Bay Beach at Mandalay Bay is perfect for families, and features a lazy river, a series of refreshing lagoons, and a wave pool. Cabana rentals are available, so you can chill out while the kids have their fun.
For something more tranquil, check out the luxurious pools at Caesars Palace and The Palazzo. Not only are these two of the most elegant casinos on the Vegas Strip, but their pool decks are the ideal place to cool down, take a relaxing dip, and sunbathe.
There are also amazing pool parties here with live music, drinks, and swim-up bars. Attending one of these parties is an awesome thing to do on the Las Vegas Strip with friends, especially if you’re on spring break or celebrating a bachelor/bachelorette party in Vegas.
Wet Republic at MGM Grand and Liquid Pool Lounge at ARIA Resort are two popular party spots where you can listen to live DJs while hanging out by the pool. Some of the day club venues even transform into vibrant nightclubs after dark, like the Encore Beach Club. It’s at the Encore at Wynn and features poolside daybeds, bars, a DJ booth, and more.
14. Go dancing at a nightclub, another fun thing to do in Las Vegas on the Strip
Another Las Vegas Strip activity that you can do with friends year-round is going clubbing. There are several hot nightclubs in Las Vegas that host world-class DJs and special events, and many of them are in the Strip’s best casino-hotels.
OMNIA Nightclub at Caesars Palace is a swanky venue with an indoor lounge and state-of-the-art dance floor. It’s ideal if you want a place where you can go out dancing while also having a space to take a breather and grab a drink.
For a more immersive concert experience, check out Hakkasan at MGM Grand or Marquee at The Cosmopolitan. Or, for a poolside club experience, go to Drai’s Nightclub at The Cromwell.
In addition to the clubs, there are awesome rooftop bars in Las Vegas, like the VooDoo Lounge at Rio Resort. Here, you can enjoy gorgeous views of Las Vegas Strip while listening to live music and sipping cocktails.
15. See a Cirque du Soleil show, another great thing to do on the Las Vegas Strip
No matter when you visit, you can find an amazing Las Vegas show to enjoy as a family or with your partner. Sin City has long been a host city for Cirque du Soleil, and there are a number of Cirque shows to choose from.
Mystère is a classic Cirque du Soleil show, and one of the best things to see in the Las Vegas Strip, specifically at Treasure Island resort. Another great one is Kà at MGM Grand, which combines a coming-of-age story with the circus acts and performers that Cirque is known for. The Bellagio hosts O, one of the most fascinating Cirque shows with water-themed acrobatics.
There are even celebrity-inspired shows like Michael Jackson ONE at Mandalay Bay and The Beatles LOVE at The Mirage. So, whether you’re traveling with kids or it’s just a couples trip, you’ll find the perfect show.
In addition to watching these performances, you can enjoy other Las Vegas Strip entertainment since you’ll already be on the Strip. Before the show, you can grab dinner at one of the hotel’s restaurants or check out the casino afterwards.
Where to stay on the Strip
With all of the fun things to do on the Strip, it makes sense to spend the night. We have a complete guide to the best hotels on the Las Vegas Strip, but here are a few of my favorites:
- New York – New York: We stayed here during our first trip to Vegas and while it was a bit too wild for me, it’s a great option for first-timers.
- The Bellagio: For our last visit to Vegas, we booked a room here, and it was beautiful. I highly recommend it if you’re looking for a romantic place to stay.
- Excalibur: This hotel is centrally located, has family-friendly amenities, and offers cheap rates, so it’s ideal if you’re on a budget.
These hotels offer lovely views of the Las Vegas Strip, and you’ll have the advantage of being close to all the action. However, keep in mind that the Strip is always busy, so it can get noisy here, especially at night. If you want more options, I suggest reading our guide on where to stay in Las Vegas.
